Fastest Speedsters Ranked: Flash to Marvel Heroes
Like so many of you, days and nights, weekends and holidays, we ask ourselves—who is the fastest on-screen superhero? Curious myself, we want the fast without the furious as we have a nasty need for speed. From the small to the big screen, we’ll be ranking the 8 fastest speedsters by their speed as well as what they can do with it. We’ll only use one candidate per franchise, or else they’d all be from The Flash
Table of Contents
Toggle8. Dash - The Incredibles
Dash can run incredibly fast and has a speedy reaction time for close-quarters combat. His little legs pump so fast that he can literally walk on water! To do this, he’d need to maintain a speed of 85 miles per hour. In the scene where Dash places the thumbtack on his teacher’s chair and gets back to his seat in 0.066 seconds, he would have been moving at 475 miles per hour! That’s one nightmare of an eight-year-old to try and put to bed.
7. A-Train - The Boys
Amazon’s The Boys gave us a darker superhero world, where the damage caused by superheroes is in the spotlight. When A-Train accidentally runs through Huey’s girlfriend Robin, it sets the tone for the entire series. In his race against Shockwave, ESPN clocked him at a mind-boggling 371 miles per hour! A-Train is not just a speedster; his agility in dodging starlight’s attacks proves he’s one self-sufficient speed machine.
6. Slingshot - Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD
Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez, aka Slingshot, gets her nickname from how she uses her speed. Wherever she speeds off to, she snaps back into her starting position just as fast. In a shootout, she can disarm you before you even think about your weapon. Her precision with her powers makes her one of the deadliest speedsters, able to finish her task before you finish your thoughts.
5. Shazam - DC Comics
Billy Batson, aka Shazam, was blessed with the speed of the Roman god Mercury, giving him enough sprinting chops to hold his own in the superhero majors. In the 2019 Shazam! movie, he discovers his speed after hearing a woman being mugged and darts over at about 40 mph. His speed combined with super strength makes Captain Sparklefingers a powerful, if not immature, force on the battlefield.
4. Supergirl - DC Comics
Supergirl, aka Kara Zor-El, may be best known for her flight abilities, but she’s also a formidable runner. In an awkward encounter with Barry Allen, they agree to a race, and she manages to keep up with The Flash even while he’s wearing a Tachyon suit that amplifies his speed fourfold! Supergirl’s speed, strength, and flight make her a powerhouse in the speedster universe.
3. Superman - DC Comics
Superman’s speed is legendary. In the 1978 Superman movie, he outran a train, and in Justice League, he kept pace with The Flash. The most outrageous display of his speed, however, was when he circled the Earth fast enough to reverse its rotation and turn back time. While Superman’s flight is often the focus, his raw foot speed is nothing short of superhuman.
2. Quicksilver - Marvel
Whether it’s the X-Men or the MCU version of Quicksilver, this mutant speedster offers blazing speed that is hard to comprehend. Quicksilver has pulled bullets out of the air, saved people from exploding mansions, and can operate in a world that moves in slow motion around him. At Mach 5, or 3,681 miles per hour, he moves with such agility that he often finishes a fight before anyone realizes it started.
1. The Flash - DC Comics
Topping our list is none other than Barry Allen, aka The Flash. Faster than any other speedster, Barry can outrun Omega beams, travel back in time, and even reset reality itself with Flashpoint. In Justice League Unlimited, Barry travels around the world to deliver a knockout blow to a Brainiac hybrid. His ability to create a flashpoint and alter timelines makes him the fastest and most powerful speedster in the superhero multiverse.
Conclusion
There’s something liberating about watching speedsters do their thing, moving faster than the eye can see. What about you? Are there any speedsters we blinked and missed? Sound off in the comments below!
