THE GREAT KING KONG

What Makes King Kong a Greater Hero Than Godzilla?

King Kong and Godzilla are famous movie monsters. But why is King Kong seen as a greater hero than Godzilla? Let’s explore what makes King Kong special.

Kong is ridiculous

The King Kong! Or should I say, Kong of the Monsterverse. He is an animal that comes out in the sun to dry sweat, can kill fishes by drowning them, scares every animal to run, and can kill two monster birds with one stone. The theory of evolution does not stand up to Kong’s rule. The only animal that exists in his kingdom is what Kong allows.

So, by now you must have understood how ridiculous Kong of the Monsterverse is. But apart from its massive masala fun, on the serious side, there is a deeper thought in the concept of Kong.

Why is he the king?

He is not just a screaming, chest-thumping gorilla on Skull Island. When he was born, his parents passed away. Before the (Godzilla vs. Kong) movie, we already know that he spent his entire childhood and youth alone on an island where surviving is a nightmare itself. Such monsters exist on that island that you will get a heart attack to see. Apart from all these things since childhood, he represents himself as a protector, ruler, as a balancer of nature. Where the biggest question is, all these qualities, where did they come from? To humans, Kong is like a god to them, and Kong does not protect those humans because they worship him. Not at all. Being a monster, an animal, how can he be so selfless that he gives his best to protect the living being? As humans, it’s difficult to understand why you would protect a completely different species. To understand this, you have to know about the origin of Kong.

Origin of Kong

A little spoiler alert, because we will discuss the “Skull Island: The Birth of Kong” graphic novel mini-series. Here, we came to know that Kong was born during the war battle of the monster world. During the birth of Kong, his mother hid him in a cave in such a way to escape from all the other skull crawlers where he saw his parents murdered in front of him by those skull crawlers. He saw the death of his parents right after his birth, so trauma came into his mind. Because this was the last fight for Kong’s tribe, no one was able to survive from his clan. Kong was the last monster or Titan who survived the battle, and he became the last orphan of his tribe. After which, what was the last species on Skull Island which was similar to Kong? Those were humans, the humans whom he felt a little home with. The way humans behave with their loved ones, the way humans live, Kong could feel that he feels little connected to them. When the first time Kong saves any human, he was able to feel empathy. And that’s why Kong doesn’t care if humans worship him or not; Kong has all the empathy, the sympathy, all the pain that no other monster has on Skull Island except humans.

And this is why KONG is more than just a king.
